THERE ARE ONLY ABOUT THREE REPORTED SIGHTINGS OF THESE EXTREMELY RARE BIRDS EVERY YEAR. ONE LUCKY WOMAN GOT ONE OF THESE SIGHTINGS IN HER OWN BACKYARD THIS WEEK.
Tracy Workman just happened to be in her backyard on Oct 3rd when she glanced in exactly the right direction at exactly the right time. The photography teacher couldn’t believe what she was seeing! It was such a rare bird!
What Tracy had seen was an extremely rare Northern Cardinal with a genetic mutation that turns what should be crimson feathers into yellow feathers. As you can imagine, just seeing one is extremely rare.

Down but not yet out Tracy kept her camera handy just in case this rare visitor returned to her backyard. And just a few days later return it did.
After following it around for a few minutes, Workman was finally able to snap a few photos.
